Coastal Bend Career Pathways, funded by the Tri-Agency Regional Convener Grant, is strengthening education and workforce partnerships across South Texas. Our mission is to connect regional leaders, expand career training, and align education with in-demand jobs. By building strong career pathways, we empower students, workers, and employers to succeed in today’s economy.
About the Grant
Strengthening Regional Workforce Partnerships
The Tri-Agency Workforce Initiative is a collaborative effort by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to foster economic prosperity through education and workforce alignment.
In April 2023, the Tri-Agency launched a $12 million grant program to identify, train, and designate a Tri-Agency Regional Convener in each of Texas’ 28 workforce development areas (WDAs). These conveners will develop regional education-workforce partnership systems under the guidance of the Tri-Agency Steering Committee.
Key Responsibilities of Regional Conveners
Build regional infrastructure to support workforce initiatives.
Develop and sustain a structured network of workforce and education partners to create long-term regional collaboration.
Coordinating regional partnerships throughout the Coastal Bend
Serve as the central hub for fostering communication, resource-sharing, and strategic planning among workforce and education stakeholders.
Leveraging Existing Workforce Structures
Utilize existing organizations, including workforce boards, education service centers, and higher education institutions, to streamline workforce alignment.

Guiding the region’s education & workforce strategies
The Coastal Bend Pathways Leadership Team was formed to guide strategies that enhance education and career pathways in the Coastal Bend region. Members include representatives from:
- Education Service Centers
- Higher Education Institutions
- Workforce Development Board
- Community Organizations supporting local youth

Workforce Solutions Coastal Bend is excited to launch a new data dashboard that highlighting targeted industry careers and show education and career pathways in the region. The beta version is now available with other resources coming soon, including: a Collaboration Framework, Outreach Templates, and Partnership Agreement. These resources will organize information regarding the process of aligning education and industry to promote powerful, region-wide partnerships.
