Workforce Solutions Coastal Bend Kicks Off 2025 Summer Earn & Learn with SEAL Signing Day at La Palmera Mall on June 3rd!

Corpus Christi, TX —Tuesday, June 3, 2025 — Workforce Solutions Coastal Bend (WFSCB) is proud to launch the 2025 Summer Earn & Learn (SEAL) Program with a celebratory SEAL Signing Day on Tuesday, June 3rd at La Palmera Mall. This event marks the official start of summer job placements for local students with disabilities, ages 16 to 22, who are ready to take the next step toward their future careers.

While student registration for this year’s program is now full, WFSCB invites the community and media to attend Signing Day and show support for these motivated young adults as they commit to their summer job experiences.

The SEAL program, now in its seventh year, is a successful collaboration between WFSCB and Texas Workforce Solutions – Vocational Rehabilitation Services (TWS–VRS). Since its inception, the program has provided close to 600 students with valuable paid work experience and career readiness training.

Thanks to funding from the Texas Workforce Commission and this year’s program sponsorship by the Port of Corpus Christi, participants receive no-cost job readiness training and are matched with employers across various industries. Students explore work aligned with their interests – from clerical roles and animal care to healthcare and parks and recreation. Past employer partners have included Walgreens, Texas State Aquarium, Goose Island State Park, local libraries, and many more.

“The SEAL program is about more than summer work. It’s about connection, confidence, and creating opportunities for young people to explore their futures,” said Ken Treviño, WFSCB President/CEO.

The program runs from May through August, offering students a chance to earn a paycheck, gain hands-on experience, and build skills that will serve them for years to come.
