The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has been working with local workforce development boards, also known as Workforce Solutions, to determine the needs of the affected areas most heavily impacted by Hurricane Harvey. TWC will present National Dislocated Worker Grant funds to Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend and Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent.

The grants will benefit communities in the Coastal Bend and Golden Crescent areas. These grants will be used to create temporary jobs for eligible individuals to assist with cleanup, recovery and humanitarian efforts in areas impacted by extensive damage and flooding when Hurricane Harvey made landfall in late August. National Dislocated Worker Grants will be administered in coordination with Federal Emergency Management Agency and local officials in the affected areas.

In addition, TWC and its local workforce boards will assist workers displaced as a result of disasters through mobile workforce centers, employer assistance and partnering with local organizations to provide housing, transportation and reintegration assistance.
